"Solon Spiro--From Immigrant Store Clerk to Mining Magnate" given by Mark Danninger and Sandy Brumley - November 15

Park City Museum and Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History will host a lecture: "Solon Spiro—From Immigrant Store Clerk to Mining Magnate" given by Mark Danninger and Sandy Brumley on November 15th from 5-6 p.m. at the Education and Collections Center located at 2079 Sidewinder Drive.
Their talk will focus on Solon Spiro. Born to a Jewish family in Prussia, he immigrated to the US in 1881 directly finding his way to Park City to clerk in the general store of his uncle M.S. Ascheim. He later built The Silver King Consolidated Mine (King Con), which he operated profitably for many years. He is the subject of at least one legend. Mark and Sandy will examine Spiro's life and mine and look at the legend and the facts. More information at parkcityhistory.org. Mark Danninger is a veteran mining engineer and long-term resident of Park City. Sandy Brumley has a background in economics and finance. He is a member of Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History.
