The Park City school Board Tuesday approved the hiring of its first full time communications director. Melinda Colton has a long history of working in academic public relations. Colton starts the new job on Monday. She has previously worked as the public relations director for Utah Valley University, and prior to that - as the communications director for the Jordan School District for 13 years.
In a prepared statement, Park City School District Superintendent Ember Conley said the district feels fortunate to have found an experienced communications professional and is eager to increase engagement and communication with district stakeholders. Conley says the hire of a full time communications director is an initial step toward more informed taxpayers.
The statement says that Colton has expertise in integrated strategic communications, crisis communications, branding, marketing, and bond campaigns.
She worked as a reporter before transitioning to public relations. Colton said she’s excited to share the success stories of Park City School District.
She lives in Draper with her husband and her two sons.
The public is invited to meet her at a “meet and greet” on Tuesday, August 22nd from 2-3 p.m. at the District Office at 2700 Kearns Blvd.
