A semi-truck driver from California, arrested last month after driving recklessly through the Snyderville Basin, has reached a Plea Agreement with Summit County prosecutors.
The defendant, 41-year-old Dustin Charles Cullom, agreed in Third District Court Monday to plead Guilty (or No Contest) to one Count of Aggravated Assault, and a Count of Obstructing Justice. Both are third-degree felonies.
His sentencing is set for February 25th. The county charged that on December 15th, several callers notified deputies that Cullom was driving recklessly down Old Ranch Road. He was pulled over by a deputy, but then sped off, fleeing down the I-80 frontage roads, and onto the Interstate. Throughout the episode he forced numerous vehicles off the road, including a deputy’s patrol car.
Under the agreement, Cullom pleads to the original charge of Aggravate Assault with another Charge of Obstruction added. Three other charges were dropped, including Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangerment.
