Christian Center Of Park City Seeking Community's Help In Naming New Event Space

The Christian Center’s new event space fits 208 people, has a commercial kitchen and mountain views. What it doesn’t have is a name, so the Center is enlisting the community to help change that.

Christian Center Executive Director Rob Harter says the Center could have considered selling the naming rights to one individual donor, but they wanted it to reflect the Park City community.

“Giving a shoutout to Jim and Susan Swartz, they helped start this and invested a lot of money, and they just decided we don't want this to be any one person's name—we want this to be the Community Center and the Christian Community Center, if you want to call it that," Harter said. "This is kind of in the same spirit, like, let's make this a community thing, let's get the community to give some input and go that route, rather than just an individual name.”

The event space came out of the Christian Center’s recent renovations. To rent the space, the Center has tiered pricing for its partners, for non-profit use and the general public. Harter says they’ve been holding events there since January, both for the Center’s own use and for the community.

“Our goal has always been, Monday through Sunday, we wanted that place to be used all the time, as much as possible," Harter said. "We realized we do have a lot of programs we use already, but a good, reasonably priced space in the city is tough to find, and our location is just a great location, in between Kimball Junction and Main Street, right on Deer Valley Drive. So, we thought this is a perfect spot, so let's make sure we make it available for the community for all kinds of different events.”

Those who are interested in helping name the space can send up to three suggestions to eventcoordinator@ccofpc.org with the subject line CCPC EVENT VENUE NAME. The contest begins March 31 and closes April 15. The winner will be announced April 22 and will receive a $200 dollar gift card to the Christian Center boutique.
