Changes To Administrative Team At South Summit School District

SSSD

The South Summit School District is making changes in the executive administrative team. They’re adding the new Executive Director of Support Services position beginning July 1 hoping to achieve a more efficient management operation.

South Summit School District Business Administrator Kip Bigelow has been named to the new role of Executive Director or Support Services. Some of the requirements of the new position are areas with which he is familiar. The IT director is retiring this spring and he says it made sense to reorganize.

“The district is growing. More requirements coming at us. So, I’ll be taking on the role of the Executive Director of Support Services. And, that will be overseeing the IT department, transportation, food services, custodial and building and construction projects.”

The business administrator position is posted until the end of this month. The current salary range is about $86,000 to $129,000.

“I am not exactly sure who Superintendent will put on that committee, but I am sure there will be board members because it is an appointed position within the district. And they’ll hopefully move rapidly. They’d like to make this transition by July 1st.

The new position, Executive Director Support Services was posted inhouse and the salary range is about $86,000 to a little under 112,000 per year.

Salaries are based on this year’s budget and they could change once the fiscal year 20 budget is approved.
The South Summit School District Board of Education decided earlier this year to put a $75 million school bond referendum on the November ballot.

“The new business administrator will definitely be working on the finance side and will definitely be working with the bonding, providing the financial information and working with the financial advisors, the bonding attorneys and others to make sure that process is followed through with and done properly.”

With Bigelow stepping into the new Support Services position, and the retirement of the IT Director, the reorganization will be budget neutral to the South Summit School District.
