With a record-setting 1,411 new COVID-19 cases reported in Utah on Friday, the state logged 1,017 additional cases on Saturday.
The Utah Department of Health also reported 9,862 new tests were administered and the state’s seven day rolling average of positive cases is currently at 951, a slight decrease from Friday’s highs.
Utah’s current seven day average for the percent of positive laboratory tests is 13.8%.
The Utah Department of Health also reported three new hospitalizations and no new deaths on Saturday.
Governor Gary Herbert moved Provo and Orem in Utah County back to the state’s orange risk level earlier this week in an effort to stem the spread of the virus in the part of the state that has been the epicenter of this current spike in cases.
The health department urges anyone with symptoms to get tested for COVID-19 and strongly encourages Utahns to strictly follow social distancing, personal hygiene, and mask wearing guidelines.
Summit County has a mandatory mask order in place through the end of 2020.
