Truck Safety Check In Park City Yields Dozens Of Violations

Park City Police Department

The Park City Police Department and Utah Highway Patrol cited 25 truck drivers for a total of 134 violations during a safety inspection operation on Wednesday.

Officers were patrolling State Route 224 – also known as Marsac Avenue for routine commercial vehicle violations.

During these safety checks, authorities stop trucks for uncovered loads, failure to stop at the check point, registration and more.

According to Park City Police Captain Phil Kirk, authorities pulled over 25 drivers and found 134 violations – most of the vehicles pulled over had multiple violations. Eight vehicles were taken out of service due to a fuel leak, inoperative lights, being overweight and brake violations. Three drivers were taken out of service due to expired or suspended drivers’ licenses.

Captain Kirk says they do these checks periodically because of the heavy traffic on the road in a residential area. There is also a steady stream of traffic because of construction in the area.

There have been two truck accidents this summer on the road – closer to Guardsman Pass. Kirk say the department does these safety checks to try and prevent future accidents.
