Wednesday COVID-19 Update: Wasatch County Reports Another COVID-19 Death

  Wasatch County saw another COVID-19 death Wednesday, there have now been 18 Wasatch residents who have died from the disease.

 

 

The Wasatch County woman who died of COVID-19 was over than 85 years-old. She was a long-term care facility resident. 

Along with the Wasatch County death, the state department of health announced 16 new deaths. To date, 1,765 Utahns have died due to COVID-19.

Utah saw 1,299 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, which is about 300 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. 

Summit County’s case numbers have continued to decrease week over week. The county saw 14 new cases. In comparison, last Wednesday, Summit saw 27 cases.

Wasatch County reported 15 new cases. Last Wednesday, the county saw 16.

There were 8,988 people tested for the first time, with 23,334 total tests administered. 

The statewide 7-day rolling average of percent positivity for “people over people” is around 15%. And 7% of “tests over tests” are positive on average. These new measures account for people who have repeatedly taken tests after getting a positive or negative result. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported 57 new hospitalizations. There are 323 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Statewide, around 84% of referral center ICU beds are in use. 

A reported, 16,778 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Tuesday, bringing the total number to 442,476 doses administered. Both Summit and Wasatch Counties are registering to vaccinate residents 70-years or older.
