The Utah Department of Health reported 13 new COVID-19 deaths Tuesday, but noted that the major of them happened over a month ago.

Of the 13 deaths, 10 were from before April 1. None of the deaths were Summit or Wasatch County residents. To date, 2,217 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 12 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

Cases were down week over week. The Utah Department of Health announced 259 COVID-19 cases, which is roughly 70 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The 7-day rolling average for new cases is 358 per day, down around 33 compared to last week.

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County reported two new cases, down significantly from last Tuesday, when the county reported eight. Wasatch County reported three new cases. Last Tuesday the county saw two.

There were 4,059 people tested for the first time statewide, with 10,114 total tests administered. On average around 3% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is 6.5%.

The department also reported 29 new hospitalizations. There are 143 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 71% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.

There were 19,996 people vaccinated since Monday, bringing the total number to 2,204,824 doses administered.

Summit County has administered 45,368 total vaccines and Wasatch has given 22,907 doses.

Both counties are in the moderate level of Utah’s COVID-19 transmission index.
