In Thursday's meeting, the South Summit School Board announced their selection for the open superintendent position.
Greg Maughan (MAWN) will lead the South Summit School District beginning July 1. Currently, he is the principal of East High School in Salt Lake City. He takes over the Superintendent position, replacing interim Superintendent Steve Hirase. Former South Summit Superintendent Shad Sorenson left in January.
School Board President Dan Eckert said he is impressed with Maughan's calm demeanor and humble intelligence.
Maughan has more than twenty-one years of public education experience. He began his career in the Carbon School District then moved to the Salt Lake City School District. There, he served in various administrative roles in elementary, middle school, and high school.
In a statement, Maughan said he looks forward to spending time in the schools, getting to know the district's students, staff, and families.
