A chalk mural off Park City’s Main Street was completed Friday. The next day it was gone.
The City’s Public Works Crew didn’t know about the project and accidentally swept it up. The 3D chalk mural of a skier on Swede Alley near the transit center was part of the Park City Historical Alliance’s “Chalk of the Town,” a weekly street art mural series in Old Town.
Artist Sarah Means was offered a $1,250 stipend to create the piece. HPCA said in a statement the art was meant to naturally fade away in about a week.
There are two more scheduled murals in the upcoming weeks. The HPCA says once those are created they'll live out their natural span.
According to the HPCA the city says it was a mistake and they’re “terribly sorry.’
