A car chase in Summit County came to an end in Park City Tuesday.

According to the Park City Police Department, a vehicle reported stolen from south Salt Lake City fled from Utah Highway Patrol on SR 224 after officers attempted a traffic stop Tuesday evening. The car was then located near the Canyons heading into Park City and was pursued after failing to yield to police.

The chase continued to Park Avenue, Snow Creek Drive, and Kearns Boulevard before officers stopped the car by performing what is called a “pursuit intervention technique” maneuver.

Park City Police Captain Phil Kirk told KPCW the driver, a male from West Valley City, then fled on foot towards the Homestake condominiums. He was located hiding in a stairwell and arrested after a short search. He has been booked into the Summit County Jail on multiple charges.

Police Chief Wade Carpenter told KPCW a teenaged female passenger is being screened for charges as well since she is currently on probation.

“There was a 17-year-old female that had a monitoring ankle on her. She was actually also an individual that was on probation, supervised probation.”

The police department says the case is still active.
