The district has been looking for a new leader since the previous superintendent of six years, Jill Gildea, announced her retirement in September. Treasure Mountain Junior High Principal Caleb Fine was named interim superintendent the next day.
Parents, staff, students and district community partners recently gave feedback on the superintendent search through a survey. Respondents said they want the superintendent to have leadership skills, moral character, commitment to continuous improvement, be an effective communicator and understand the community.
Seventy respondents also recognized interim Superintendent Fine for his “deep understanding of the community and effective leadership.”
Board leadership previously told KPCW they would consider this feedback and that they may look for a permanent superintendent internally.
The new superintendent will be sworn in at 8:30 a.m. at district offices on Kearns Boulevard.
