Deer Valley Postpones Snow Park Lodge Renovations

Deer Valley Resort

While Deer Valley Resort will be offering lift-served mountain biking, hiking and outdoor dining this summer, it will be holding off on its multi-million-dollar renovation of Snow Park Lodge.

The resort has announced staggered openings of the Deer Valley Grocery Café, Royal Street Café and its Main Street Signatures retail shop.

On Friday, June 26th, the resort will open its lifts for mountain bikers and hikers. The lifts will run through Labor Day when the resort will scale back to just weekends through Sept 20th.

However, the resort’s plans to spend the summer renovating Snow Park Lodge are off. In an email to Deer Valley staff from President and COO Todd Shallan, he wrote, due to the closure of the resort and all operating business March 15th, the resort, as well as all of the Alterra Mountain Company resorts, have generated zero revenunes.  As a result, he says they have decided to postpone the Snow Park Lodge renovation and all large capital projects until a future, and still to-be-determined, date.

The improvement projects he wrote are important and will remain on their radar, but at this time, the highest priority is to reopen the resort and put their employees back to work.

The resort he added is committed to an extremely lean budget and workforce. While the resort is working hard to bring back the entire team, he wrote with the current situation, that isn’t possible. They will use a variety of criteria to determine which employees come back to work first. He anticipated no need to hire any new staff members for the summer.
