The Utah Department of Health reported the death of the fourth Wasatch County resident due to COVID-19 on Monday.

The man was between the ages of 65 and 84 and was hospitalized at the time of death.

Wasatch County Epidemiologist Chris Smoot read a statement shared by the county health department following the announcement.

“We are very saddened by the passing of another community member and dear friend to COVID-19,” Smoot said. “It is a powerful reminder that it can take anyone, at any time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and to all who are suffering the effects of this pandemic.”

The county health department asks Wasatch residents to be vigilant and take the basic measures to reduce the spread of the virus, such as practicing social distancing and wearing a mask in public.

As of Tuesday morning, Wasatch County has had 426 cases of COVID-19, with approximately 75 of those cases active. Twenty cases have required hospitalization and four people have now died in Wasatch County.
