Summit County has seen their transit system impacted by COVID-19. And as County Manager Tom Fisher notes, they’re trying to see how it’s affected business also.
Park City and the county have implemented a revised transit schedule. Fisher said that ridership has dipped tremendously, and there are two or three reasons for that.
“A lot of businesses closed, and our workforce is not using it as heavily. I mean, there’s still workforce that depends on our transit system. That’s why we’re making sure that we still have a life-line service available. But a lot of our tourists have left town too, and that’s always a significant ridership as well. And then those that live here are mostly staying home. We’re curtailing the service so that we can get down to our base level of employees for that, so that we’re not putting more people at risk in the community within the transit system.
On a related topic, he said a Task Force has been set up to look at how the pandemic has impacted business.
“They have a survey that’s out on the county’s website under Economic Development. It’s a COVID-19 Business Impact Survey. We’ve tried to get wide broadcast to the business community on that already.”
