Park City will be buzzing this weekend with its long-standing August tradition, the Kimball Arts Festival.
Park City Special Events Manager, Jenny Diersen, is urging everyone to walk, bike or use public transit to get around.
But she also had details on parking in the Main Street area—and some notes on non-Arts events this weekend.
As of Friday, parking spaces are closed for Main Street, Heber Avenue, Swede Alley and the parking areas along Swede. Diersen, though, had these details on the parking garage.
“Friday rates are normal in China Bridge. So what that means is that after 5:00 pm it is $3 an hour with a max rate of $18 and the first hour free. I think it is important to let everyone know we do anticipate parking in China Bridge to be full early. Please do your part and of course car-pool if you are parking but we strongly encourage you to take the bus.” Diersen continued, “We appreciate all of our resort partners as well as the school district they have all come on board to help us to work towards our community priority. You can park at Canyons, Park City Base, Deer Valley or Park City High School and take the bus into the event. Because of the concerts up at Deer Valley their parking lot is only available until 3:00 pm.”
Diersen said they will have extra buses from those parking lots. She also said rates will be somewhat different on Saturday and Sunday.
“On Saturday and Sunday, It is $5 an hour from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at 5:00 pm rates go back down to $3 an hour. All day long the max-rate is $18 and the first hour is free. Businesses that do have the blue permit can park in the North Marsac lot or the Gateway.” Diersen said, “For employees in the Main Street area, Homestake parking lot is available and operating as normal. That’s from 11:00 am to 3:00 am and we do have a 10-minute shuttle running back and forth between Homestake lot and Main Street
Diersen added that the Festival, like last year, has a bike valet service at 7th Street. It can be best accessed from Park Avenue.
Meanwhile, the weekend’s events include concerts at Deer Valley.
“On Friday, the Deer Valley music festival with a tribute to the ‘70’s and ‘80’s that’s from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm and also on Saturday night the festival has Big Bad Voodoo Daddy up at Deer Valley as well.”
And events at City Park include another entry from Sundance’s free summer-concert series.
“That is normally held on Friday, so I just want to make sure that folks know if you do plan to attend the Sundance summer series at City Park that is on Saturday evening. That starts at 7:00 with activities, the movie starts at dusk which is normally around 9:00. The movie this week is Red Dog: True Blue. It’s about a boy who’s shipped off to Australia and finds himself amongst adventure with a new four-legged friend. That is free and open to the public. All day on Saturday there is the Park City Summer in the City Volleyball Tournament at City Park.”
Diersen added that the Park Silly Market isn’t taking place this weekend and also is on hiatus for August 12th and the 19th.
