Park City Board of REALTORS Hands Out Annual Awards After Record-Setting Year

Park City Board of Realtors

The Park City Board of REALTORS celebrated a handful of its members last week during at its annual awards event, which was held virtually.

Board of REALTORS Executive Director Jamie Johnson said realtors working in the Wasatch Back provide service above and beyond contributions to the real estate industry. The Awards Committee gave the meritorious service award to Nancy Ernie from Berkshire Hathaway.

"Nancy has served for, I believe it's 12 years, on our philanthropic foundation as a trustee and just rolled off at the end of 2020 and has passed the baton to Michelle Eastman, who is our current president,” Johnson said. “She has her rescue dogs that she goes out into the community, that helps when someone is missing and then has given back in multiple other community ways here in Park City."

The 2020 Director's Award went to Melissa Band with Bald Eagle Realty. Board president Mark Jacobsen said Band works on Park City issues related to affordable housing and planning.

“We look for people who have gone over and above to help both in the community and in the real estate industry,” Jacobsen said. “Melissa's been involved with the city. She's been part of the Planning Commission. She even chaired it for a while. She's once again come back to be our legislative committee chair and she's just a wealth of information and she's always looking out for everybody."

JoAnne O'Connell with Keller Williams won the Realtor of the Year award. The criteria are not just sales-related. Johnson said the local board of realtors is affiliated with a national association, and the requirements to receive the award are tied to local, state, and national service.

"We had many great candidates that were nominated this year, and Joanne stood out to the committee by her service, not only to our local board but to the state and the national levels as well,” Johnson said. “And she serves on the state committee for grievance and professional standards, and then she's been now, is starting a second term with our board of directors here at the local level."

Tyler York with First American Title Insurance received the Affiliate of the Year award for his dedication and support services provided by his title work.

Mountain Trails Foundation Executive Director Charlie Sturgis won the 2020 Community Service Award. The special awards committee reviewed applications submitted by members identifying Sturgis' longtime commitment to the community. Sturgis is retiring from the position in June.

"So, they were excited to be able to honor him as he is retiring this year, for all of his service and care for our community."
