Tuesday COVID-19 Update: Summit County Sees 11th COVID-19 Death

Summit County saw another COVID-19 death Tuesday. The man is the 11th death since the start of the pandemic.

 

 

The Summit County man who died of COVID-19 was over 85-years-old, and was not hospitalized at the time of his death.

The Summit County man was one of five deaths reported by the Utah Department of Health. To date, 2,032 Utahns have died due to COVID-19.

New COVID-19 cases were down week over week. Utah saw 481 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, which is about 80 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. 

The rolling 7-day average of new daily cases is 492; the last time the average was under 500 was mid-September. 

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County reported ten new cases. In comparison, last Tuesday, Summit saw eight. Wasatch County reported four new cases. Last Tuesday, the county saw six.  

There were 5,467 people tested for the first time statewide, with 15,610 total tests administered. On average about 4% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the percent positivity for “people over people” is around 8%.  

The department also reported 38 new hospitalizations. There are 171 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 68% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.  

There were 16,373 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total number to 1,027,073 doses administered.
