Wasatch County Reports Second COVID-19 Death

Sunday afternoon the Utah Department of Health reported the death of a Wasatch County man due to COVID-19.


The Utah Department of Health reported Sunday that a Wasatch County man, under the age of 65 died as a result of COVID-19. The man is the second COVID-19 death in Wasatch County.

The first man to die of COVID-19 in Wasatch County was in his 60’s and had underlying health conditions. His death was reported on April 10. No Summit County residents have died as a result of COVID-19. 

The state also released new numbers on Sunday. 264 new cases were added to Utah a daily increase rate of 2.8%. Summit County had three additional cases for a total of 415. Wasatch Count had 10 new cases for a total of 282.  

A case with a diagnosis date of more than three weeks ago, who has not passed away, is considered recovered. Utah has 6,137 recovered cases. Summit County has around 380 recovered cases, and Wasatch County has around 170. 

 The state has had 775 total cases that have been hospitalized, there are 98 cases currently hospitalized.

Wasatch Count has had 13 cases hospitalized while Summit County has had 37, data is not available on how many active hospitalizations there are within each county.
