Local News Hour - February 25, 2019

On today's Local News Hour, KPCW’s legislative reporter, Emily Means talks about the last two weeks of the 2019 session. The bill to ban cities banning single use plastic bags is back again this year. HB 259  is a bi-partisan bill that would eliminate straight party voting. Forty-three states have eliminated straight-ticket voting.Summit County Sheriff Justin Martinez talks about the multi-state crime spree which included a bank robbery at Kimball Junction on Friday. The suspects have been taken into custody in Oregon and charges are being filed.Park City Mayor Andy Beerman  gives an update on the role Council is taking to preserve the City’s  ban on plastic bags. He talks about the State of The City Address he delivered last week and the announcement of a new attorney, Margaret Plane,  who, if City Council approves her, will join the Park City legal team as Special Counsel.  

KPCW reporter Carolyn Murray covers Summit and Wasatch County School Districts. She also reports on wildlife and environmental stories, along with breaking news. Carolyn has been in town since the mid ‘80s and raised two daughters in Park City.
