A motorcyclist was killed on I-80 Satruday afternoon after he crashed just north of Wanship
Utah Highway Patrol reports the 43-year-old man was traveling towards Coalville on eastbound I-80 Saturday afternoon around 3:30 when the crash happened. The man was traveling above the posted speed limit on his motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a bend in the roadway and lost control, crashing into the median. Witnesses stopped to aid the man, but he died on scene as a result of injuries.
The man was the only rider on the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet, his identification is being withheld at this time while officials notify his family.
Highway Patrol says I-80 was shut down for about an hour while a medical helicopter arrived on the scene. Traffic opened up after with intermittent delays in both directions, the scene was cleared and the road was completely opened around 7:30 pm.
