Early May 25, the Utah Highway Patrol says it pulled over a van headed east at 76 mph in a 70 mph zone in Wanship.
The arresting trooper says when he approached the van on I-80, he could smell marijuana, and upon searching the vehicle found more than 100 pounds of it.

The 40-year-old male driver and 28-year-old female passenger, both with New Jersey driver’s licenses, allegedly told UHP they didn’t have medical cards.
The van’s trunk was allegedly stacked with cardboard boxes filled with marijuana flower and pre-rolled joints labeled 28% to 30% THC. Arrest documents say the driver told the trooper the shipper said the boxes contained hemp.
UHP took both people to the Summit County Jail at about 3 a.m., where they were booked and released for possession of drugs and paraphernalia, including possessing 100 or more pounds of marijuana. The driver was also booked for speeding.
Neither had been charged as of May 28, but in Utah law possessing more than 100 pounds of marijuana is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison or $10,000 in fines.
