Silver Creek Connector

A Feb. 11th hearing hosted by the Snyderville Planning Commission, on the proposed expansion of the Mountain Life Church in Silver Creek, brought out a crowd that filled the room and supported the project.

The Planning Commission didn’t make a decision, putting off the item to get more details on some of their concerns.   But the planning panel did not raise any major objections to the proposal.

Summit County Council Member Chris Robinson  joined three of his colleagues Jan. 22nd to choose a road alignment linking up lower Silver Creek to the Bitner Frontage Road.

Robinson said he was glad the decision was finally made, because the controversy has gone on way too long.

As we’ve reported, most of the County Council voted for the Church Street alignment, somewhat further up the hill from lower Silver Creek.    One dissenter, Council Member Doug Clyde, favored the Frontage Road alternative, which parallels Interstate 80.

The Summit County Council has decided—by a 4 to 1 vote—on a connector road that will link Silver Creek to the Bitner Frontage Road.

Months of discussion and controversy left the council focused on two options.    On Wednesday they bypassed the so-called Frontage Road—which would have mostly paralleled Interstate 80—and instead chose an alignment, further north and up the hill, known as the Church Street option.
