Back in the 1970s, every spring about 100 ski instructors from across the country would gather in Park City for the annual national Ski Instructors Ski Academy. One of those who would come out from Minnesota was Eric Bloomquist.
In this week’s Park City Story, he recalls when the event was held at the old miners boarding house – now called Mid-Mountain Lodge. Back then, instructors would ride the gondola up from the base of the Park City Ski Area to the angle station, still located at the base of the Silver Queen ski run and haul their bags and skis up the road to where Mid-Mountain lodge used to be located – and now marked by a plaque -before it was moved up the hill to its present location.
