Juvenile Charged After Investigation TMJH Student Deaths

Park City Police say a juvenile has been charged as a result of their investigation into the deaths of two 13 year old boys.

Grant Seaver and Ryan Ainsworth died a couple of days apart in September.   Both boys were students at Treasure Mountain Junior High School.

Police have not determined what caused the boys’ deaths.  However, right after they died the Park City School District and Park City Police issued a community alert about a synthetic opioid called “pink”.   They say the drug is easily available over the internet.

Police Chief Wade Carpenter issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

The Summit County Attorney's office has filed charges in the Third District Court against a juvenile as a result of the Park City Police Department's investigation of the deaths of Grant Seaver (13) and Ryan Ainsworth (13) in September.

The Park City Police Department will continue to work on this active and ongoing investigation.

We have no additional information to share at this time.

Summit County Chief Prosecutor Patricia Cassell told KPCW the charges were filed in juvenile court.  She would not give any other details.

KPCW will continue to follow this story and report any new information as it becomes available.
