Running With Ed Celebrates Tenth Anniversary: Early Bird Registration Now Open

PCEF

The Park City Education Foundation celebrates 10 years of Running with Ed, a team relay race which circumnavigates the Park City School District. It’s also a fundraiser which the Ed Foundation has come to rely on, so it can continue to support enhanced educational programs in Park City’s public schools.

Early bird registration is open until the end of February. Runners can save $10 if they sign up by February 28th. Park City Education Associate Director Jennifer Billow says the event raises $250,000 for the organization.

“Tons of fun stuff for the tenth anniversary. We have T-shirts, medals, race bibs. We’re giving sun glasses this year. But those are on limited supply so they’re on first come, first serve. And there will be a bunch of fun memories on social media coming up in the next two months. And, this is one of the things that raises money for things like pre-school.”

There are many ways people can engage with the race, and each school sponsors themed aid stations for teams as they make their way around the race course.

“Anyone can take part in Running with Ed. There’s the leg between Jeremy Ranch and Ecker Hill that’s about 1-and-a-half miles that almost anybody can do. Or, help your school with their exchange. You know, the schools put on great exchanges. You can give to a fund-raising team. Those are already getting set up.”
Billow says a recent survey shows both parents and teachers support the event.

“One of the things that came back from the survey is how teachers love how it brings the community and the teachers together. They really get to see each other out there in their costumes and so, it’s a great way to support education in our town.”

Running with Ed is May 18th but to take advantage of the early-bird special, register before March 1st. Go to runningwithed.org to register.
