Stanford University Exhibit Traveling Through Summit County Libraries

Stanford University

As the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad approaches an exhibit from Stanford University is traveling through Summit County.

Kamas Librarian Lee Whiting says the exhibit ‘The Chinese Helped Build the Railroad, The Railroad Helped Build America’ is at the South Summit services building through the end of April.

“It’s a collection of photographs. Historic photographs, but also didactics telling you all about the history of the Chinese immigrant workers who helped build the transcontinental railroad. It tells a very full story. There are about 60 panels in the exhibit it's quite extensive and very well prepared and curated.”

The exhibit is open Friday and next Tuesday the 30th but also is available by appointment for any size group.

“Part of the challenges in our facility, we have a multipurpose space. So, there are others who use some part of the exhibit space for other purposes. We have reserved Tuesdays and Fridays full days 10:00 to 6:00 otherwise call ahead by appointment and we can let you in.”

The exhibit will move to the Park City Library during the month of May before moving to the Ledges Event Center in Coalville during the month of June.
