Utah COVID Deaths Up to 27 Sunday; Two More From Saturday

On Sunday, the Utah Department of Health released new numbers of people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
There are 3,069 total positive cases reported today. This is an increase of 138 cases, and a daily rate increase of 5% from yesterday. 259 people have been hospitalized statewide which is an increase of 8 people from Saturday.

Wasatch County has a total of 111 positive cases. Six are hospitalized which is the same number as Saturday.  Summit County has 318 positive cases which is up two from Saturday’s report. Thirty-one Summit County residents have been hospitalized which is the same as yesterday.

Testing has increased to 63,555 which is up 3,611 from yesterday. Statewide, 5% of people tested are positive.  There are now 27 COVID-19 related deaths reported in Utah, which is two more than Saturday. Both of the newly-reported deaths were Salt Lake County residents; one was a male, the other a female, both were older than 85, both were hospitalized at the time of their death but had been living in a long-term care facility prior to their death, and both had underlying medical conditions.

As of Sunday, Summit County remains the third highest confirmed case count with 318. Utah County is second highest with 455 and Salt Lake County has 1615 confirmed cases.

A new data point offered on Sunday’s report shows 679 people recovered, which is defined by someone diagnosed more than three weeks ago and has not died.
