Park City Police Chief Wade Carpenter has tested positive for COVID-19.
According the Park City Municipal press release, he began having symptoms on Wednesday night. The notice states that he isolated himself and his family immediately when the symptoms appeared. He received the positive results on Friday afternoon and alerted Park City Manager Matt Dias.
He has informed his staff and assigned Park City Police Captains Phil Kirk and Andrew Leatham to take on administrative functions while he remains isolated for the period defined by the Summit County public health protocols, his doctor and the city.
Park City Manager Matt Dias said the city and Summit County are partnering to make certain everything is done to protect the health and safety of the police officers, staff and the public.
Dias said in the press release that from the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Park City Municipal has put in place a series of proactive policies to enhance protections for members of the public and staff. He says the police force is on the front lines each and every day, and they have one of the most difficult jobs in public service. Dias says they will continue to work closely with partners at Summit County to do everything possible to continue to protect the health and safety of the community.
