Summit County Attorney Margaret Olson announced late Thursday that murder charges have been filed against 58-year-old Summit County resident James Kip Ramsdell in the shooting death of 50-year-old John Krieg.
Krieg and Ramsdell were roommates at a home on Countryside Circle in Highland Estates.
According to the Summit County Sheriff, Krieg and Ramsdell had been drinking before getting into an altercation during the night of October 6-7th. Krieg died of a single gunshot to the chest. Ramsdell also received a gunshot wound to his hand.
Ramsdell has been charged with first degree murder with a firearm enhancement. The murder charge carries a sentence of 15 years to life in prison if convicted, with one additional minimum year due to the firearm enhancement.
Ramsdell is being held without bail in the Summit County Jail.
