Lynn Ware Peek Back In Community Engagement Role After Park City Council Term

Mark Maziarz

Former Park City Councilmember Lynn Ware Peek is Park City Municipal’s new community engagement liaison, a position she held before her appointment to the city council in 2018. Peek communicates with businesses, organizations and community members.

“Working with residents, working with HOAs, working with anyone who is impacted by or needs information about what the city is doing,” Peek explained.

Peek says it’s a good time for her to be in this position. As part of the city’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Peek is putting together a “neighborhood coalition network” to disseminate vital information in English and Spanish within smaller neighborhoods in Park City. People who are well-connected in their own neighborhoods will receive information from the city and distribute it through flyers, emails or texts to try and reach some 3,000 homes in Park City limits.

"Not everyone is on Facebook, not everyone is on Nextdoor, not everyone listens to KPCW or reads the Park Record," Peek said. "There’s a lot of information to get out there, but mostly it’s timely, accurate and crucial information from Summit County Health Department and Park City."

Additionally, through her community engagement liaison role, Peek convened a task force of businesses, nonprofit organizations and other stakeholders to respond to needs of vulnerable populations during the outbreak. That initially included seniors and low-income residents, but as people continue to self-isolate and stay home, Peek says the group’s efforts go beyond informing the public.

“We have really rekindled that, that sense of wanting to connect with our neighbors and to make sure people are OK, and they have what they need, and they’re not feeling isolated and lonely and vulnerable,” Peek said.

Peek says she needs more points of contact for The Aerie and Aspen Springs neighborhoods. Community members can connect with her at lynn.ware-peek@parkcity.org.
