Monday COVID-19 Update: Half of Utah's Eligible Population Vaccinated With First Dose

Utah has reached another milestone with vaccinations. More than 50% of Utahns 16 and older have received their first COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state’s coronavirus dashboard.

There were 1,326 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Sunday, bringing the total number to 1,898,857 doses administered.

Summit County has administered 39,748 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 19,921 doses.

The Utah Department of Health announced 200 new COVID-19 cases Monday, which is 15 more cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The 7-day rolling average for new cases is 382 per day.

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County reported three new cases, one fewer than last week. Wasatch County reported two new cases. In comparison, last Monday the county saw no new cases.

There were 2,695 people tested for the first time statewide, with 5,021 total tests administered. On average 3.5% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is just under 7%.

Utah’s Department of Health reported two new deaths. To date, 2,166 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 11 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 12 new hospitalizations. There are 138 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 70% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.
