Park City Film will host their annual Oscar Party on Saturday. This is the fifth year and it is a fundraiser that helps to support their free community film screenings like the children’s programming at the Jim Santy which runs through the week.
Park City Film schedules screenings regularly and brings kid’s movies and the Thursday night Park City Real to the community free of charge.
Park City Film Executive Director, Katie Wang says the event is a fundraiser but also a chance to bring film lovers together.
“We show the Oscar nominated shorts this coming weekend ahead of the Academy Awards. And Saturday night will be the Documentary shorts which are almost always the strongest of the collection. So, you can come 6 o’clock, get some great food from Done To Your Taste Catering. We’ll have drinks, of course, silent auction. We’ve got some great donations from Wasatch Adventure Guides, a fly-fishing trip, Park City Desserts has donated a gift basket. Jean Gleasure Portraits, if you want to get a portrait of your animal, you can come bid on that and raise some money for us. And, then at 8 o’clock, we’ll start the documentary shorts and we find that people stay after the film as well and digest what they just saw and really un-pack it. And, again, it’s kind of taking that community of film to the next level.”
Wang says the party tickets are limited. She says people can come just for the film if they’re not interested in the party.
“Tickets are $50, and it includes three drink tickets and of course food, some Oscar trivia and some great prizes for that. And, if you’re a member of Park City Film, It’s a $40 ticket price. So, that’s a little incentive to become a member and support us year-round. But tickets are limited, and we only have so much space in that community room, so we really encourage people to go on line to Parkcityfilm.org and get heir tickets in advance. They have been going fast. We probably have about 25, 30 left.”
