Park City Hosts Large-scale Community Meeting For 2020 Visioning Process

Nov 19, 2019

The Park City Future Summit takes place Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Park City Library’s Santy Auditorium. Park City Community Engagement Manager Linda Jager says it’s a time for community members to talk about the themes and ideas that have emerged from the 2020 visioning process and react as a large group.

“With the format of that venue. we really wanted to take advantage and welcome as many folks as we could," Jager said. "We're hoping to see a few hundred folks come out tomorrow, so that's why we decided to use rapid polling. So if you're coming, be sure to bring your cell phone, and you’ll have an opportunity to give some instant feedback and see what your neighbors and other community members feel about some of those issues.”

Park City’s community visioning project began this past June, 10 years after the last visioning process, and in the months since the city and the consultants Future IQ have conducted dozens of community meetings and a think tank workshop. To date, the project has also received feedback from 750 survey participants. Jager says a few themes have come up as community concerns and opportunities, such as affordability, transportation and the impact of the resort economy.

“We have such amazing benefits and amenities because of the tourism economy, but we've also heard from residents about how to try to balance that quality of life," Jager said. "So I think that will be a lot of the discussion as well.”

As the results of the 2020 visioning process will shape Park City leaders’ decision-making for the future, Jager encourages all community members to attend Wednesday’s event.

“I think it's a really good opportunity for residents to have their voice heard and participate in the process.”

The Park City Future Summit will also offer Spanish interpretation services.

The Vision 2020 final report will be presented early next year.
