PC Education Foundation Delivers Wellness Program And Lunch

PCEF

Last week, the Park City Education Foundation raised $200,000 during this year’s Live PC Give PC day of giving. They simultaneously launched a new educators wellness program in response to a year of great stress and challenge.

Park City Education Foundation Executive Director Abby McNulty says teachers continue to deal with extraordinary challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. They surveyed teachers and have a task force in place to work on rolling out support initiatives in all seven Park City schools.

“As we know, this has been a really challenging year with COVID and all the COVID protocols and our teachers have been working overtime since March when our schools closed, and everything went remote. So, we surveyed the teachers to understand how they're doing, their well-being and how is this year compared to years past. As you can imagine a good portion of them are more stressed. There's more work, more anxiety so we have launched what we're calling an Educator Wellness Campaign to support everyone who's working in the schools.”

McNulty says they raised about $7,000 during Live PC Give PC which is earmarked to start the first initiative.

“The number one thing that they listed on the survey that we could immediately act on was bringing food trucks to the school at which I think is ultimately giving them some time, you know one day a month where they don't have to think about preparing a meal or bringing lunch to school.”

McNulty says a team of two student interns will work on a series of initiatives throughout  the school year.

“We’ll also work with community organizations and businesses to offer discounts and programming access to mindful classes and things like that. This is a way to recognize and thank all that our educators are doing this year to support our students academically and emotionally.”

The Park City Education Foundation will immediately begin scheduling the food trucks to arrive at each school on the early release days and continue to roll out programs throughout the school year.
