For the fourth day in a row, Utah has seen less than 1,000 new daily COVID-19 cases.
The Utah Department of Health announced 591 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, which is about 300 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week.
There were 4,015 people tested for the first time, with 9,985 total tests administered. About 6% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive.
Summit County reported seven new cases. In comparison, last Tuesday, Summit saw 17.
Wasatch County reported 10 new cases. Last Tuesday, the county saw 4.
Utah’s Department of Health reported one new death. To date, 1,797 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including eight from Summit County and 19 from Wasatch County.
The department also reported 30 new hospitalizations. There are 272 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Statewide, around 75% of referral center ICU beds are in use. The state is right below the ICU utilization warning for the first time since October.
A reported, 7,952 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total number to 532,985 doses administered. Both Summit and Wasatch Counties are registering to vaccinate residents 70-years or older.
