A skier died at Solitude Mountain Saturday afternoon after crashing into a tree.

Unified Police reported 53-year-old Daniel Negrelli of Hartford, Connecticut, died after crashing into a tree near the bottom of the double-black Middle Slope ski run.

Unified Police spokesperson Aymee Race said Negrelli was wearing the proper safety equipment including a helmet.

The cause of death and what led to the crash are under investigation.
