Karen Korfanta was a Junior National Champion ski racer in the 1960s and went on to compete for the University of Utah race team. She was later named to the US Ski Team and a member of the 1968 US Olympic Ski Team.
For the last 27 years, Korfanta has worked as the race department manager for Park City Mountain Resort where she was first brought in by then then- exuberant resort marketing director – Craig Badami – who was also the son of the resort’s owner - to pull off the first World Cup ski races the resort held in March 1985. Korfanta had made her way to Park City via the US Ski Team when she helped moved the Team’s Headquarters from Denver to Park City in the 1970s.
