Summit County Council Approves Two Appointments To East County Planning Commission
The Summit County Council this week approved two appointments to the East County Planning Commission. Chris Robinson joined his colleagues in choosing a new member, and re-appointing a current Planning Commissioner to another term.
The council appointed Clint Benson, a resident of Henefer, and incumbent panel member Rich Sonntag. Robinson said that fits with their policy of having a mix of resident from all over the East Side for the Planning Commisison
“We know have three commissioners from the north Summit area and three from the south and then Rich being a Promontory resident is sort of in-between,” Robinson explained. “We think we’ve represented both ends of the eastern part of the county well. A lot of the proposals we’ve been getting lately are in north summit, so we thought it important that we had at least three members up there.”
He said they also if considered Sonntag, a former project manager for Promontory, will have any conflicts of interest relating to the development.
“We’ve made it pretty clear that on any matter that relates to Promontory or its sister company South Ridge that he should have no involvement,” Robinson stated. “Not participate in any way whatsoever. He’s not working for Promontory, but he may have residual interest in the event that the project is sold they get some sort of a payout he indicated. He’s working for the new owners in Daybreak doing consulting on other projects unrelated to Promontory. On balance we feel that he brings a lot to the table and having him recuse himself from participating in Promontory is a small price to pay for his expertise.”
