Park City's POWDR Acquires First Canadian Resort

SilverStar Mountain Resort

Park City’s based POWDR, the former owner of Park City Mountain Resort has entered the Canadian Ski Market.

Powdr announced Tuesday that it has acquired SilverStar Mountain Resort – its first mountain resort in Canada.

This acquisition brings together two family-owned companies, including POWDR, and Jane Cann, who has owned SilverStar since 2002 and served as president since she acquired 100 percent of SilverStar in 2012. Cann will retain Schumann Resorts LTD., which holds 30-acres of SilverStar real estate development land.

SilverStar joins the POWDR portfolio of 10 mountain resorts in California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Vermont; the action sports company Woodward; as well as the Company’s media and entertainment holdings.

There are no changes to SilverStar 2019/20 season passes, current operations or reciprocal agreements with other resorts.

SilverStar Mountain Resort is located in the heart of British Columbia’s Okanagan region - a 20-minute drive from the city of Vernon and less than a one-hour drive from Kelowna International Airport.

SilverStar is one of BC's largest ski areas offering 3,282 acres of skiable terrain, a 2500 foot vertical drop, and annual snowfall of more than 23 feet.

As a year-round mountain destination, SilverStar’s Bike Park is ranked by the International Mountain Bike Association as one of the premier downhill mountain bike facilities in North America.
