Sen. Romney To Visit Business Owners In Heber Friday

United States Congress

Senator Mitt Romney will visit Heber City this week to speak to business owners in a private event.

He will hold a discussion with business leaders Friday at the Wasatch County Senior Center to talk about the new infrastructure bill just passed by Congress. The Heber Valley Chamber of Commerce will host the event.

Romney was one of 19 Republican U.S. senators who voted to approve the infrastructure bill on August 10, joining all 50 Democrats. The bill will invest $1 trillion in the nation’s infrastructure, including the electric grid and broadband internet access. About $550 billion will be new spending.

The spending package comes after months of negotiations. It won’t become law until Congress sends the bill to the president to sign.

A chamber representative told KPCW the event is meant to address the business community, and Romney wants to hear from local business owners about the challenges they’re currently facing. He’ll address them with a brief update on the bill, then field their questions.

Invitations to attend went out to chamber of commerce members. With limited seating available, non-members aren’t invited to attend.

The meeting is Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
