The Winter Sports School’s annual beach volleyball fundraiser is this weekend. This year the school will raise funds for an organization that honors the memory of a former Winter Sports School student.

Winter Sports School student Jack Schaede says that this year the Student Council decided to fundraise for an organization with direct ties to Park City.

“In the past we've kind of toggled between different nonprofits,” Schaede explained. “We donated to Iranians last year to help them. This year we wanted to do like more community-based fundraiser. To get more people like to sign up and kind of donate to this (non)profit. So, we decided to go with the live like Sam foundation because Sam Jackenthal, a few years ago passed away in a bad ski accident in Australia, he used to attend the winter sports cool. This organization that they've developed helps kids not only who pursue our passions, but throughout the whole community.”

Fellow student Benny Brown says the tournaments begins this Friday, August 2nd.

“It’ll be at the Willow Creek park at 2:00 PM,” Brown said. “It will be a good community event. There will be a Taco truck. It's always has really good turnout but this year we're hoping to make it more of a community event. So, we're going to have around 60 people. We’re hoping to have more than that, around 16 teams.”

You can register your teams of four on the winter sports school’s website. Proof of donation to the Live Like Sam foundation is required, registration is $60 for youth teams and $100 for adult teams.
