Cool Science Radio - James Balog, Roger Payne, and Bill Neal - Ocean Health Panel

On October 10, 2018, Cool Science Radio co-host John Wells moderated a panel at the Future in Review Conference in Deer Valley. The subject: The Health of Our Oceans. The panelists were: 1. Roger Payne, Founder and President of Ocean Alliance, best known for his discovery that humpback whales sing songs and for his calculation showing that the sounds of fin and blue whales can be heard across oceans; 2. James Balog, writer and photographer for the 2013 documentary Chasing Ice. This film won an Emmy in 2014 and was short-listed for an Oscar. His latest film is 2018’s The Human Element; 3. Park City resident Bill Neal who has written, directed and produced Long Gone Wild, a documentary which deals with the plight of captured orcas in North America as well as the looming crisis in Russia and China. This is the follow-up documentary to 2013‘s Blackfish
