Humanity's relationship with deer

Baby animals, deer | Utah Division of Wildlife Resources
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources
If you see a fawn while hiking, give it plenty of space. Its mom will have a difficult time finding it if you spook it and scare it away.

From Texas to England, author Erika Howsare explains humanity’s relationship with deer in her new book, "The Age of Deer: Trouble and Kinship with our Wild Neighbors."

Melding nature writing and cultural studies, Howsare investigates our connection with deer. Taking into consideration the mythology and biology of deer, as well as how we coexist, control and exterminate this animal.

Chris is the co-host of “This Green Earth”, a weekly radio show covering environmental news and issues. Broadcast on KPCW, the NPR affiliate for Park City. He also sits on the boards of Recycle Utah and Summit Community Power Works.
Claire is the producer and co-host of This Green Earth and a volunteer DJ on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
