Mediation Talks Continue Through Weekend

On the verge of the Labor Day weekend, both sides in Park City’s ski resort fight say they are continuing to mediate.

The mediation deadline has been extended twice , most recently till 5 p.m. on Friday.    John Lund , the counsel for Talisker and Vail, said in an e-mail this afternoon that the deadline has been extended to 10 a.m. on Sunday, and he added the parties are continuing to work together in good faith.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the Park City Mountain Resort, Krista Parry, did not mention any deadlines, but affirmed they are working on a resolution.    Her e-mail said they will provide an update to Third District Court Judge Ryan Harris before the next hearing on Wednesday.

Following a three-hour hearing on the 27th,  Judge Harris said he was putting off a decision on what bond amount to set for the Mountain Resort to continue operating on its ski mountain.    He will issue a ruling on Sept. 3rd at 1 p.m .

Known for getting all the facts right, as well as his distinctive sign-off, Rick covered Summit County meetings and issues for 35 years on KPCW. He now heads the Friday Film Review team.
