The Park City School District issued a statement that teachers would no longer provide on-line teaching from the classroom and that effective immediately they are enacting a telecommute system and work remotely, providing instruction to students from home .
Last week, in conjunction with Governor Gary Herbert’s order to close all schools, it was announced that Park City School District students would be dismissed for at least two weeks, but that teachers would continue to provide instruction from the classroom. After County Public Health officials ordered the closing of all restaurants, bars, gyms, spas, churches and other places where people gather, the school district decided to also shutter school buildings to teachers and administrative staff.
Effective Thursday, March 19 at 2:30 P.M, the notice says all teachers and staff will now telecommute providing teaching and staff support remotely. The district will continue to provide Grab & Go breakfast and lunch bags at Ecker Hill Middle School and Treasure Mountain Junior High from 7:30 – 11:00 A.M.
The notice is signed by Superintendent Jill Gildea who says it is part of the community wide effort to prevent the COVID-19 virus from spreading further.
Her statement says they have a responsibility to students and staff to keep everyone healthy so students can continue to learn and grow.
