The Wasatch County Fire District is implementing countywide fire restrictions on Wednesday, June 16, due to forecasted weather conditions and the ongoing exceptional drought in Utah.
The fire district will issue the directive in collaboration with the Utah Division of Natural Resources.
It prohibits open fires of any kind except with established public facilities in improved campgrounds, picnic areas or permanently constructed fire pits at private homes where running water is present.
Smoking is limited to enclosed vehicles, trailers or buildings. It is allowed in developed recreation sites or while stopped in vegetation-free paved areas. The usage of fireworks, tracer ammunition or other devices like exploding targets is also prohibited under the order. There is to be no spark-generating cutting, welding, or grinding metal in areas of dry vegetation.
An approved spark arrestor is required if you want to operate a motorcycle, chainsaw, ATV, or any other implement that includes a small internal combustion engine.
