Heber City to Hold Town Hall to Answer Questions about Water

Heber City

Heber City will hold a town hall meeting to address concerns about the drought this Thursday.

The town hall meeting Thursday will bring together Heber City officials, engineers and water conservancy professionals. They will spend about an hour talking about Heber’s water system, water rights and the current water situation.

“It’s just an informational town hall,” said Mike Johnston, city councilman. “We’ve got some educated people and engineers in the water world, so they’ll answer questions and give some presentations."

The city representatives will be Mayor Kelleen Potter, city manager Matt Brower and assistant city engineer Russ Funk.

The panel will also include Max Covey of the North Village Special Service District and Rick Maloy of the Central Utah Water Conservancy District. The city is trying to bring in someone from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, too.

Johnston said the city is not holding the meeting out of alarm or present conflict.

He also expected the conversation about current drought conditions to lead to good questions about long-term water use.

The town hall is Thursday at 5 p.m. at Heber City Hall. Links and phone lines that can be used to attend virtually can be found at utah.gov/pmn/files/742015.pdf.
