Former Olympic racers and ski enthusiasts turn out for grand opening of the Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center.

The Utah Olympic Park will hold a grand opening ceremony Wednesday afternoon for its new Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center.

While the season’s surprising snowfall has meant great snow riding conditions, it has also hampered the opening of the West Peak expansion at the Utah Olympic Park.

The George S. and Delores Dore Eccles Foundation awarded $5 million to the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation last Thursday night to complete the second phase of Utah Olympic Park’s mountain expansion and fund youth scholarships.

On Tuesday, a Utah congressman and a handful of pro athletes met at the Utah Olympic Park to hike in the mountains and talk about climate impacts on the region's outdoor winter economy.

As the Park City area continues to grow, so do the opportunities for junior ski racers to train. The newest training grounds are under construction – and slated to open this winter – at the Utah Olympic Park.
